1 John 2:14 I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one.

Whether you are a grown up and a child you can know God. As an adult you want to be able to care for your children. If you have known God for a long time then you may be called an adult in Christ or God, whereas you may be called a child in God if you have not known Him for long. If you are an adult in God it will seem natural for you to want to care for people who have not known God for long.

God wants us to be a family in God so that we will love each other and care for each other like families should.

If your family seems to have something missing, just maybe they are missing God out…

1 Timothy 6:9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

It is not the act of having a lot of money that will cause as many problems as the act of wanting to have so much money. We need to be happy with what God allows into our lives rather than running after things which we don’t actually need.

God will allow us to have what we actually need, but it is the desire to get more that drive us over the edge. That lust for money and other things will make us do some pretty stupid things in order to get our own way causing problems as we go along.

If we get trapped into that way of life we will never be able to focus on God because our focus will always be on things instead.

Matthew 6:27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

We all like to think that we are in control of our lives, and we are… but that control is only as far as we can think and do. Our appearance does change when we worry because others can see that we are worried, but just by worrying or thinking we will not be able to change how tall we are or other things like that.

God has made us who we are and He made us this way for a purpose. We should not be worrying about how we are but rather concentrating on what we can do for Him. If we rely on God in the right way, we can depend on Him for everything and will no longer need to worry about those things in life. It is a hard step of faith to take, but very rewarding…

1 Timothy 1:19 holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.

One of the questions we often get asked is “why did it all go pear shaped for me?” Often we do have to go over what we have done and look at whether we may have been responsible for things…

It is not always someone else’s fault. It is not always possible to blame something else. Sometimes we have to accept responsibility for what we have done – even when we are in God’s hands.

Even though God has promised to protect us, we do have to continue to listen to Him. If we don’t we may well find we are on our own and that is when shipwrecks happen…
