1 Timothy 1:19 holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.

One of the questions we often get asked is “why did it all go pear shaped for me?” Often we do have to go over what we have done and look at whether we may have been responsible for things…

It is not always someone else’s fault. It is not always possible to blame something else. Sometimes we have to accept responsibility for what we have done – even when we are in God’s hands.

Even though God has promised to protect us, we do have to continue to listen to Him. If we don’t we may well find we are on our own and that is when shipwrecks happen…

Psalm 102:17 He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; He will not despise their plea.

How many times have you turned someone away just because you don’t like them or because you were fighting them or arguing with them? How many of those people have been family members?

We turn people away, we don’t listen to them, we ignore them, we do all sorts of things to them just because we can…

But God will always listen to prayers, especially to those who need Him the most. It does not matter how evil they have been in the past or how they have ignored God in the past; if they are willing to come to God in honesty and with and open heart, He will never turn us away! What an awesome God!

John 6:37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

One of the greatest things about God is that He will never turn you away if you come to Him. We have doctors that turn people away because they cannot afford medical help, we have authorities that turn people away because they say they do not have the staff to cope, we even have churches that turn people away…

But those decisions are all made by people and it is the people who are making the mistakes because that is not the way that God has told us we should be living. God does not turn people away who come to Him for help because God is the one who created us and continues to love us despite all we do to Him.

But if we never turn to God, then God cannot accept us…

Psalm 19:8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;

There are many things in life that we do not like doing, and straightening out our lives is one of them. When we are caught up in things we like to stay there just because we feel some safety in our bad situations; getting out of those situations always seems hard and painful.

God’s Word is designed to give us the encouragement that we need in order to help us out of those deep holes. God’s Word gives us a new hope to look toward, one that will allow us to aim for a better life without having to face all the horrible things along the way.

Yes we may have to face a few consequences, but the road will be a lot better after that.
