Psalm 25:12 Who, then, are those who fear the Lord? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.
Who are the people who are willing to listen and learn from God’s Word?
Those who are willing to humble themselves before God and show they fear the Lord – not fear as in afraid but fear as in uttermost respect!
When we show God the respect due, we will see changes in our lives as we move forward with God in everything!

Psalm 85:10 Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.
What a wonderful way of describing love and faithfulness – without these two attributes, we are not going to get very far in life...
But with them, we will be able to go a little further, encourage others a little more and stay safer with others!
God wants us to love the people around us like we love ourselves.
God wants us to share the righteousness and peace we get from God with those around us!

Amos 7:14 Amos answered Amaziah, ‘I was neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees.
Amos was looked at as being a prophet by Amaziah the priest, but he was not saying nice things so was rejected by the priests!
God chooses who He wants to be the prophets or missionaries He wants in the places He wants them to be.
As long as we listen to God and are faithful in telling people what God teaches us, then we too are doing God’s will in our lives.

Matthew 7:1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
Are you going to blame someone when things go wrong? What if they did something by mistake – because they are just human like you!
God wants us to be different so people will question themselves rather than having to be faced with judgment from others!
Judgement does not help anyone to break free of their sinful ways – it traps them in those ways.

Hosea 6:6 For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.
Just in case you were thinking God wanted sacrifices up until Jesus was a personal sacrifice... He has long tried to get people to understand why He asked for sacrifices to being with!
God does not want us to do things just because the rules say we must...
God wants us to do things right because we want to and we want to please God through doing these things!

Psalm 6:3 My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long?
How long do you wait for God to answer your prayers? Have those prayers come from your heart or from a book?
God wants us to be very personal with our prayers – the psalmist here lifts up his words in anguish, waiting for God to answer!
It is better we spend a single minute lifting up a prayer from our heart than a whole day lifting up loads of words for the sake of words

Matthew 6:27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Have you noticed how worrying about things seems to make them worse?
Have you noticed how little you can do with worry?
God wants us to take action instead of worrying about things. God wants us to make a difference and not just talk about it.
God wants us to pray and not just say we will!

James 1:4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
When we find ourselves in hard times, we can either collapse in a heap or we can get stronger.
God knows how much we can take, but He is not going to load us up until we are almost at breaking point... that is the world, not God!
God does not say He will keep us apart from trials, but He does say He will be with us through them... Count on God!

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
Sometimes it is the problems we have in our lives which open up the vulnerabilities to allow God to work through us!
God knows we have problems and issues which will prevent us from doing everything correctly all the time – but he still asks us to step forward and try!
Trust a bit more in God’s abilities and His guidance to get things done right!

Psalm 123:1 I lift up my eyes to you, to you who sit enthroned in heaven.
Where do you seek inspiration and guidance from? From books, from living life, from nature, from religion?
We need to look to the author of love, our Creator God – and He is not sitting here on earth in a big temple or on a cross!
God is in Heaven – separated from this world where sin cannot touch Him.
We need to seek Him where He is and not where we want Him to be!

2 Samuel 8:15 David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people.
What do you think God is asking you to do? Do you try things out to see if they are good for God... or you?
God wants us to be like David and to be just and righteous with all people around us, especially those under our charge!
God asks us to be fair and just with everyone – not just the people we like or friends and family only... everyone!

1 Thessalonians 2:5 You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed – God is our witness.
How do you tell people about God? Do you tell of love, joy and peace? Do you tell of fire and brimstone?
God wants us to tell people the truth, without sugar-coating it and without expanding on God’s Word to cover over our own failings.
Allow God to be the witness to people by simply telling people the truth as it comes from God’s Word!

Colossians 4:1 Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven.
I know slave trading is banned in most countries now, but we still do work for others, and we have bosses and the like... This still applies in these cases!
I know when I lived in Africa, we did have local people who worked for us both in the house and in the garden – and the local people very quickly worked out who the best bosses to work for were!
We must treat the people in our care with great care – be it socially or work related!
We are all in God’s care and He treats us all equally...

1 Thessalonians 1:7 And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.
If people said you were a model citizen – who would that model be based on?
If we live for the world, we will reflect the world. If we live for something, we will become a reflection of that something!
Living for Christ and doing what He has taught us to do will mean we become a model of Christ – that way we can encourage the world with Hope!

Mark 3:25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
When Jesus was confronted by people saying He had a devil in Him, He confronted them with simple logic!
The best teams in the world play together as a team! That is the essence of many sports – as long as you all play together as one, you are better than your opponents!
Jesus wanted all to know this is pertinent to us as humans; our soul, body and spirit need to work as one team to be good.
We cannot be like Christ unless we work as one – just as God works as one!

Mark 5:17 Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region.
Are you going to accept what Jesus does in your life – or will you rebel too?
When the people heard of the things Jesus had done, they became afraid they would lose their worldly possessions and begged Him to leave them alone!
Jesus actually does know what is best for us – but we will not always like the answer to our prayers...
When you pray, how precise are you?

Psalm 132:10 For the sake of your servant David, do not reject your anointed one.
David lamented about how God should not ignore Him because he had done something wrong – he based his request on God’s unfailing love, promised through the scriptures.
This Psalm lifts up David in the hopes of reminding God of the good things David did, and not just the sins and failings!
God always looks at the bigger picture and will always be fair and just in all His dealings with us.

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures for ever.
God wants us to be with Him and has made a way which will stand the test of time and man!
When we look at nature around us, we see how beautiful things can be, but we also see how things wilt and die off over time.
When we look at mankind, we see similar things – people rising up to fame and fortune and then losing it all when they die.
God wants us to know His promises are alive forever and will stand the test of time.

Luke 1:68 ‘Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them.
When God opened Zechariah’s mouth again, He made sure Zechariah would speak about what was to come.
He was chosen as a high priest but had to neglect many of his duties when he was mute. The Holy Spirit was going to make up for lost time!
The prophesies started flowing, starting with Jesus coming as the Messiah to redeem His chosen people – a promise made by God which was about to be fulfilled.

Acts 13:4 The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus.
How good are you at listening to God? Do you wait to hear something verbally, do you wait for some miracle to happen?
God is not going to change the world just so you listen to Him! He will more likely end up changing you so the rest of the world will listen!
The disciples listened to what the Holy Spirit told them – we need to do the same in our lives and move forward knowing we are following God’s will.
